It's that Time of Year Again

Well, after saying I was staying in CA for the week, Ricky called to say he was leaving Wednesday instead of Tuesday, so I hitched a ride... Ok I DROVE.. home with him.  As I age, I don't like being away from Paul and home. So I'm visiting Blogs and doing a quick post, thus avoiding the call of re-packing and laundry before we leave for CA tonight.
This time of year has always been an exciting time for me, especially since the early days of my life as a parent. TWO of my pregnancies coincided with Elections.. 80 & 84 and I didn't work so Paul and I would "go Voting" together in the morning just after Halloween and Katie's birthday. Since this all followed Halloween which really is the beginning of the Holidays, I was always excited AND we'd often go Christmas shopping after we "went voting"!!!!
This election, I can walk so I'm looking forward to walking around the corner and voting with Paul. I'm not sure who I'm voting for (A HUGE FIRST FOR ME) but I'm pretty sure Paul and I will be a split ticket this year.. first time ever.
There are also some very important Propositions on AZ's ballot so while, I'm ambivalent about the Presidential race, I'm really nervous about some propositions I SO don't agree with.
I was raised a certain kind of Catholic.. I like to call it.. West Coast Catholic :).... While I don't practice much, I still believe.. What I believe is that God Loves ALL his children and I don't like the "You can't get married if you're gay propositions".. THERE I got political on my blog..  and I will be out to vote against AZ's.. I noticed while in CA that the NO on these propositions are advertising so differently. But either way, I can't get behind the Yes.. Lyndsey almost got us both killed while taking me to the hospital this week. We drove by some Yes on 8 (CA's You can't be married if you're gay law) demonstrators, and she just couldn't resist honking and yelling against them as we drove by...
I'm a little more reserved and prefer to watch the cars ahead of me.. AND they have the right to speak out too.

On a VERY good note this year, all but 1 of my four are registered to vote and very knowledgeable and very eager to cast their votes this year. One wasn't able to register due to a need for his driver's license in THIS state, and the DMV being shut down on the last day.. Well, if you wait for the last day... But The Our Clan will mostly all "go voting" on election day!
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog today

First off what a beautiful pair of witches. I too am waiting to go and cast my vote. I voted for the first time ever in the year 2000. I became a US citizen in September on my birthday and voted in November. I am a Democrat and I'm ready for change so no secret there as to who I'm supporting, both my wife and I are on the same page on this. Then the propositions, you really have to be careful when reading them because the wording is so tricky. To me when it comes to the Institution of Marriage it can only be one way, simply put a man and a woman. And how about those paycheck loans, I am tired of seeing people ripped off by those loan sharks. November 4th I hope everyone goes out and vote.

I have been wondering where you have been and what you have been up to. I read about a trip to the ER...but I am assuming you are doing well. Also, caught where you had babies close to the same years I did, and you must have a daughter Katie, and so do I. Small world, sometimes isn't it. I so agree with needing to do our homework for the election. Wow, there is so much to decipher. I wish they would just let us vote for elected officials one time and the issues another time. I enjoyed your post today. Have a great Halloween...by the way, the girls are really cute!

I refuse to go political on your blog, but whoever doesn't vote for who I vote for and the props I approve...are all a bunch of losers!

:) Hee-hee just kidding! I did once have a bumper sticker that read "I'm not opinionated, I'm just always right". I should get a new one. Anyway, hopefully everyone gets educated on what each candidate stands for and what each prop. means and then VOTE!!!

You know I will!

P.S. I'll see you and Paul and Sabby tomorrow!

Honey, I really wouldn't tell people you let your dad complete your ballot? It was too hard for women to get the vote!!!

I am just ready for Tuesday to be over. When I lived in CA, I hated the props. Like Jose said, you got to watch the wording on them, they are tricky that way.

I was in California in 88 and worked for the California Democratic Party leading up to the election. I dont think we did very good that year, LOL.

Anonymous As I'm out of town I can't delete your comment; however it doesn't surprise me that you prefer to remain anonymous as that would be the cowardly thing to do. Your personal attacks on my daughter, who by the way is beautiful, doesn't surprise me as your type seem to make ugly statements from hidden places. Your souls seem ugly to me. Once home, your comments will be deleted and do me a favor, stop reading my blog.

Oh Jesus help me. I just can't stand when people are cruel and nasty. Betty, you have a voice and you are blessed you live in a place where you can speak up. Please don't stop. Since when did being hopeful become a crime?

As for your anonymous poster, what a moron.

EEEW! Someone got yucky on the funnest place on earth...Bloggieland! Oh well! Everyone is entitled to their oppinions. I guess this election is getting to all of us. Anyway, I personally think that my nieces and their mommy is absolutelly georgeous, no matter if they vote no or yes on 8. But that's just my opinion. Where has all the love gone anyway??? I'm a lover not a fighter!!! Okay, sometimes I fight, but not right now, even if I do choose to vote opposite of Lyndsey or anyone else this election day :) Like I said earlier...I'll be right, they'll be wrong! :) Just Kidding! Okay, I'm done rambling for now. Just vote for who and what you want...just make sure you're educated an the issues first!!!

Have a Blog-a-rific Day!

anonymous (one and two) sounds like the slovenly girl who was once married to my a nephew. Any chance you're related? Same troubled mind....maybe not. Twenty years is way too long to be carrying a torch like that!

thanks Rudee, Carla & Kathie!

I stopped by to read the post above, and had to stop reading to see what this one was about. I am with you all the way on the props - I only wish I could vote, but I'm in the UK, so we already have a civil ceremony in place. Its a good thing. God loves everyone, and I believe that he made us just the way we are. I can't believe that someone went anonymous I find that really cowardly. I also firmly believe that where people disagree it should be civilized, and not a cause for nastiness. I'm just sorry that someone went for you.
