I don't get it

I don't get Wheaties and I'm a little irritated at them for their non renewal of Michael Phelps' contract. Yeah they have the right; but I can't help wondering how many of the decision makers there have smoked pot in their own lives. I am not a pot smoker, but I DID INHALE a few times when I was younger. I've been told that Pot will help with symptoms of M.S. but don't like the idea of inhaling anything into my lungs... After years of smoking.....
Some one I love uses pot to help with severe migraine headaches he's had since he was three years old. That's ALL that has helped him. Drug addiction should be treated as a health problem and not a crime. The smugglers, and sellers are a different matter.  But we wouldn't  have that problem if we made pot legal.
O.K. I've said enough.
I've got sixteen million things to do today before leaving for Sophie's birthday party in CA.
I haven't been to visit blogs much this week so will catch up with all of you soon.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog today.

You know what, I totally agree with you. I mean... who hasn't tried it when they were younger... Well I'm sure there are a lot of people who haven't but ...

I'm sure his contracts have clauses about his behavior. Although only human, and young, he was supposed to be a role model. This was a really foolish mistake on his part, and he likely violated contractual clauses. Personally, I never really cared about all the hoopla surrounding him. He wasn't the only athlete at the olympics, but from watching the shows, you'd have thought he was the only one who mattered.

On the other hand, he is someone who has ADHD-perhaps he has problems with judgement. I'm sure he never thought ahead to the ramifications of his decision to party that night. How many of us do? I doubt not to many do who suffer from ADHD. It won't be long before this "scandal" is forgotten and we're on to the next hullaballoo.

I hope so Rudee; There are so many more issues facing us right now. LOL Sandy, Paul has never tried it. The first and only time I ever got high, my mom called "just to chat"... Never did it again. :)

I must have missed that he lost a contract with Wheaties, but did of course see the big picture of him with the bong. When I was a young one I did some experimenting, as I am sure most do or did, so it doesn't seem like a big deal except for the fact that he was such a role model for the young ones. Also, I am somewhat irritated that NO ONE seems to be able to do anything these days without being caught on camera or film, and then having it on the evening news for the whole world to sit in judgment over. I am so glad most of my mistakes were between me and God, and the few people I chose to talk about it with. The world has really changed since the 60's and 70's!

I never did drugs of any kind but I know many tried them growing up and eventually stopped. Michael is just one more human being and will try different things I'm sure. But darn, he shoulb be smart enough not to let himself be photograhed. He has too much to lose. Sponsors won't stand for that and although unfortunate he should have know that could happen.

I think Phelps got the shaft.

I never smoked pot.

I smoked government issued, "free" cigarettes, in my C-rations and got hooked on nicotine and almost killed myself. I did manageto ruin both of my lungs give myself a dose of heart disease.

Which is worse.?

I'm with you Abe; Cigarettes are worse; I smoked them for 31 years and stopped the day my heart stopped; a little over 4 years ago now. Mine weren't free but were, government subsidized,(farmers) while Tobacco Companies "spiked" cigarettes to make them more addictive. It's my fault for smoking but they sure make it hard to put them down whey they add chemicals making them even more addictive than they need to be.
