On to history being made today. Politically, I'm more of a conservative that grew into a moderate and today I hope I'm wrong. I voted for Obama, first democratic vote since the 70's. Today is a truly historic day. As a child I remember the protests and marches.. I remember my own home town of Torrance CA (along the southern CA Coast) where there were marches to allow African Americans to be able to buy homes that were sold only to whites. I remember the I have a dream speech. A speech, who's meaning would only become clear as I grew older.
In the 70's A special child was born into our family. (they're all special) Her father was african american and absent. Her dad, began raising her when she was already 8. I worried every day someone would hurt her.. feelings or physically. So things got more personal for me.
What an incredible day for America. Not just because Barack is interracial which DOES bring a new day to the world, but we seem a more united country today (hopefully it will remain so) and as bleak as things are today, I believe and pray things will be better in the year to come. I intend to sit and watch history all day.
Gotta Say it... God Bless America! and Yes We Can.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog today.

Very well said Betty. I'm proud of my leaders for this peaceful transition and very hopeful for our future.
Well I am proud to be a Democrat and I am happy that for the first time since I vote my candidate won. It is time for change, millions of us agree and today we begin that path together.
I like what you had to say! I agree also about Laura Bush. Historic day for sure.
